Every offer type uses the same editor. Tabs change slightly by type. Settings sit on the left; a live preview sits on the right.
Choose a type
From Home, choose Create upsell. Offers are grouped by where they run: site wide, product page, cart page and drawer, and thank you page. Compare them on the features page if you are still deciding.
Settings
- Name: for you only. Customers never see it, so name offers in a way you can find later.
- Priority: used when more than one offer of the same type matches a product. The highest priority wins.
- Products: automatic recommendations from Shopify, or a list you choose yourself.
- Maximum products: how many items the offer may show.
- Excluded tags: keep tagged products out of the offer.
Discount
Offers can run with no discount, a percentage off, or a fixed amount off. Discounts are applied by a Shopify Function at checkout, so the price in the widget is the price the customer pays. See the discounts guide for conditions and caps.
Trigger
The trigger decides when the offer is eligible: any product, a specific set of products, or a collection. Cart offers trigger on what is in the cart, so they use any product or specific products.
Subscription
Product page and cart offers can sell items on a selling plan as well as one-time. Thank you page offers handle one-time purchases only, and the editor notes that.
Design
Use the design tab for wording and styling: headings, button text, colours, typography, spacing, layout, and reading direction. You can translate every merchant-written label per language so offers read correctly in each market.
Match your theme’s button colour and heading size first. An offer that looks like part of the store tends to convert better than one that stands out as an add-on.
Placement
Where you can put an offer depends on the type. See placement options for the full list.
Preview, save, publish
- Check the preview panel as you go.
- Save the offer.
- Publish it when you are ready for customers to see it.
- Confirm it on your storefront, then check Analytics after a few days of traffic.
